Our Beginnings

Journey of Love Dossier Service began with my own adoption experiences.

In 1999, I put together a dossier for my own adoption from China in only a few weeks. As I met other adopting families online and in support groups, many talked about the hassle it was to prepare all the documents necessary for the dossier – the maze of levels for processing, confusion over where to send documents, the frustration of finding you sent them to the wrong place, requested the wrong format, or enclosed the wrong fee. I thought about how a dossier preparation service could really help these families, not thinking that I could be that help.

Until, as I prepared a dossier for my second adoption from China in 2001, I met a family who was also "paperchasing" and having a difficult time of it. They asked me a lot of questions, and I gave them a lot of answers. Finally, they said, "Could we just hire you to do this for us?" and Journey of Love Dossier Service was born.

Since then, I've helped hundreds of families prepare their dossiers for adoption from countries around the world, including China, Vietnam, Guatemala, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and Peru. I've networked with adoption agencies across the United States, assisting their families in getting adoption dossiers submitted quickly and accurately.

The 'Dossier Doula'

I refer to myself as "The Dossier Doula." What is that? Well, a doula is a person who assists families achieve the birth they desire, providing support during the birthing process. "The Dossier Doula" assists families achieve the adoption they desire, providing support during the dossier preparation process and beyond!

As a parent who has adopted internationally myself, I understand the need to make the preparation of your dossier efficient and "painless." I empathize with your desire to get through the documentation process quickly – you want to bring your child home as soon as possible, and the only thing you want to focus on is your adoption dossier.
